Climate Bridge Joins with Haleon Suzhou Factory to Build the First Carbon Neutrality Factory within China's Consumer Health Industry

Time:2022-11-04 View:1103

The Haleon Suzhou factory has achieved a significant milestone by attaining carbon neutrality in its operations. With the support of Climate Bridge, the factory's Wusongjiang and Baodai Road units underwent a rigorous third-party verification process by the globally recognized Bureau Veritas. This accomplishment has enabled the Haleon Suzhou factory to become China's first carbon-neutral facility in the field of consumer health.

Haleon demonstrates its commitment to sustainability.

Haleon's journey toward independence was formalized on July 18, 2022, when it divested from GSK to become a standalone entity dedicated to consumer health. Subsequently, it made its debut on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Haleon's diverse product portfolio encompasses prescription and over-the-counter medications, including calcium supplements, multivitamins, and cold and cough remedies.

The Haleon Suzhou factory, a pivotal supply hub for Haleon in the Asia Pacific, has always been aligned with Haleon's carbon commitment objectives. Teaming up with Climate Bridge in September, the factory achieved its carbon neutrality target for the entire calendar year of 2021.

We provided comprehensive carbon neutrality technology consulting and offset services. Adhering to globally recognized standards, such as ISO14064-1 and PAS 2060:2014. The facility's operations were meticulously audited, culminating in its certification as China's inaugural carbon-neutral consumer health factory

The Haleon Suzhou factory's carbon-neutral status was realized due to its unwavering dedication to energy conservation and emission reduction. By enhancing operational efficiency, leveraging energy-efficient equipment, and curbing energy consumption, they made significant strides in diminishing direct greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, renewable energy sources, like distributed photovoltaics, were harnessed to further curtail energy usage and thereby better reducing indirect emissions.

To counterbalance the presently unavoidable emissions, Climate Bridge provided the Haleon Suzhou factory with carbon credits originating from forestry carbon sinks and renewable energy projects. These initiatives not only fostered CO2 absorption and advanced local biodiversity, but also ushered in employment opportunities and healthier work environments for local communities.

Moving towards a low carbon future is ultimately a win for all.

The 20th National Congress of the CPC, under its 10th part of report, highlights the imperative of green development and the symbiotic relationship between humans and nature. The directives are explicit: attain a "carbon peak" by 2030 and achieve "carbon neutrality" by 2060, with factories being pivotal to this green transformation.

Committed to a low-carbon transition, Haleon is championing initiatives in carbon emission reduction, sustainable packaging, eco-friendly raw material sourcing, and waste and water conservation. By doing so, it firmly supports China's dual carbon objectives, advancing its desire for a better tomorrow where human health is strengthened not weakened by the environment.

Climate Bridge is committed to providing individuals, companies, and government with the best practical solution plans to address climate change through the intersection between high efficiency and low cost of information, funding, technology, and carbon credit. With the values of Innovation, Professionalism, Efficiency, Integrity, Empowerment, we work together with governments, enterprises, institutions, and individuals to promote the "dual carbon" goals and actively contribute to addressing climate change and sustainable development.
