We’re proud to announce our recent collaboration with Midea Building Technologies (MBT) – previously known as Midea Central Air Conditioning Division – to achieve zero carbon emissions in their heat pump production line, which has now been certified by SGS. To achieve this milestone, MBT used an eco-friendly R32 refrigerant, refrigerant recycling, solar power generation, and an increase in reserve equipment. Where emissions cannot presently be reduced further, they have offset emissions with green electricity and certified emission reduction (CER) credits.
MBT's product portfolio is diverse, spanning multiple units, large chillers, machine room air conditioning, elevators, escalators, and an array of building automation software and integrated building solutions. Their manufacturing bases are strategically located in Foshan, Hefei, Chongqing, and Italy, among others. Specifically, SGS conducted a rigorous verification of greenhouse gas emissions from the P8 and P9 heat pump production lines at Midea Shunde Base's #4 factory building.
It's vital to clarify that a zero-carbon production line doesn't eliminate carbon emissions entirely. Instead, it's about implementing energy-saving measures and technologies to counterbalance these emissions. Midea is at the forefront of this transformation, not only adapting their production lines for low-carbon operations but also integrating carbon credits to achieve a true zero carbon production line.
Our partnership with Midea continues our commitment to sustainability. We specialize in the development of renewable energy projects, which presently generate 11.6 million MWh of annual renewable electricity generation from a diverse mix of wind, solar, and hydro projects. These projects span multiple regions, including Qinghai, Inner Mongolia, Jilin, Beijing, Gansu, Zhejiang, Yunnan, Guangxi, and more, ensuring a nationwide coverage.
Given the evolving global landscape, especially with the European Parliament's recent review and approval of the draft amendment to the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and the impending US Clean Competition Act, it's clear that green trade agreements are on the rise. This necessitates that Chinese enterprises urgently pivot towards a low-carbon model and enhance their carbon management capabilities.
At Climate Bridge, we pride ourselves on our expertise in emission reduction project development and carbon emission verification consulting. For years, we have been dedicated to offering comprehensive solutions for the carbon peak and carbon neutrality markets.
By fostering carbon trading and ecological compensation mechanisms, we draw both domestic and international investment into China's ecological civilization, aiding enterprises like Midea in realizing their carbon neutrality aspirations. Our vision is clear – to connect the East and the West, and create a sustainable future.
